DON'T FENCE ME IN
Oh, Give me land, lots
of land under
stary skies above,
don't fence me in.
Let me ride over wide open spaces
that I love, don't
fence me in.
Let me ride to the ridge where
the west commences,
and gaze at the
moon 'till I loose
my senses,
I can't look at hobbles,
and I can't stand
fences,
Don't Fence me in!
Just turn me loose, let me straddle my
old saddle underneath
a western sky....
On my cyuse let me
wonder over yonder
till I reach the mountain
high....I want to
ride to the ridge
where the west commences,
gaze at the moon till
I loose my senses,
I can't look at hobbles,
and I can't stand
fences,
Don't Fence Me In.
I think some things
are beyond time
and space. They are
truely a state of mind.
Texas is one of those
things.
It's people and history
have lived on long after
her heros are gone
and not all the heros were Texans
You don't have to
be a Texan...although I am..
To love her bluebonnets
or remember
the Alamo.
All the wonder and
romance that is Texas is
a state of mind, a
TEXAS state of mind..
and every dream of
cowboys, and trail rides,
boots, saddles and
starry skies lead to
a Texas state of mind.
